My Sisters
|
| Gracing the
streets of the city of "brotherly love", almost one million black
women gathered to celebrate themselves and the uniqueness of African-American
sisterhood. Before a stage of noted speakers, grandmothers, mothers,
daughters, sisters, aunts and cousins from all across America, lent
their voices to the prayers and cheers that documented their collective
experiences in this country. Keeping their heads to the sky, the
queens drape themselves with the flag of their birth-right, holding
the world in one hand, they gratefully look to the heavens, acknowledging
the source of all blessings. In a move meant to compliment instead
of eclipse the MMM, the sisters filled Philadelphia with a physical
outpouring of love that that city and this nation, will never forget.
